The Godfather of Cryptography and The man behind Berkley's movement towards blockchain

Sorry, last week was crazy and I didn’t get to launching my newsletter. This week we had Ben Bartlett join us. He’s a city council member for Berkley, an entrepreneur, and an activist.

I first met Ben back in 2017 when I started working at Orchid. His family history is amazing. They came from the east coast fleeing slavery and made it to SF where were the first black business owners. His uncle later became a congressman. Today, Ben is focused on leveraging crypto and blockchain to solve some of our most pressing issues around poverty and access to investment opportunities and ownership.

Last week, we had David Chaum, the CEO of XX.Network and one of the Godfathers of cryptography. We had a timely discussion on the future of digital currency, election security, and the chilling effects that the decline of democracy has on our 1st Amendment rights.
